What are the goals of the Electronic Invoice in Volta Redonda?
Its goal is to achieve greater integration and information sharing, simplifying and modernizing processes and making it easier to comply with tax obligations, as well as strengthening control over and compliance with tax obligations through information exchange between tax authorities.

The project to roll out the Electronic Invoice began with Constitutional Amendment No. 42, item XXII of Article 37, which states:
"The tax administrations of the Union, the States, the Federal District, and the Municipalities — essential activities for the functioning of the State, carried out by staff in specific career tracks — shall have priority resources to carry out their activities and shall act in an integrated manner, including through the sharing of registries and tax information, as provided by law or agreement."
To meet the requirements of this Amendment, Tax Administrations held several meetings that became known as the National Meeting of Tax Administrators (ENAT).
ENAT's main goals were to define guidelines for the integrated action of Tax Administration bodies in applying the National Tax System; propose various strategies for interinstitutional information sharing; support interinstitutional projects, as well as shared systems, to improve work processes through interconnections between tax matters across the three levels of government; and provide input for improving the management of Brazilian Tax Administration.
It was established by Protocolo ICMS 42/2009, which set the mandatory-compliance timeline for 2010. By the end of 2010, all manufacturers and wholesale businesses were required to issue the NF-e.
